I've got a Uniden PC 68 that will key up put no audio.

When I key the mic the meter moves and the TX light comes on but there is no audio.

This happens from time to time but it's getting worse.

I have checked the mic and that's not the culprit.

This radio has a variable power and a 1969 final.

Any suggestions as to what this may be and what I should look for?

try your PA function with ex. speaker , if your PA don't work , good chance the audio chip needs to be replaced. If the PA works , it's not your audio chip. IM not sure what you meant by "from time to time" if it works sometimes and then does what you said , could be a cold solder joint as well.

I checked the PA and it doesn't work either. I'm going to check for a cold solder joint. Hopefully that's all it is.

If it's the audio chip, is that something that can be changed without sending to a tech or does the radio have to be put on a scope or analyzer?

you can just change it if you think your up to it ? if thats the problem and it sounds like it , you should be fine .

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
