Uniden 980 Display On/Off switch

Hello guys. Is it possible to turn off the 980 display but have the radio still on or is the brains for the radio part of the display panel ?
Wondering if possible and if it is how hard would it be to do? Tia

The dimmer on the radio doesn’t get it low enough for you ?

I may go with the dimming / brightness control if i cant figure out an easy way to shut it off completely. I will be using the radio for something specific where it will be powered on for many hours a day so figured i could maybe save the backlights from burning out by shutting them off completely. So far i have not found an easy way to do this so may need to just dim it down and hope that will extend the life of the backlights.
