Uniden 980 Mic Question

An adapter comes with the radio for using a standard 4-Pin mic in place of the 6-Pin stock mic. But what if one wants to use the 6-Pin stock mic on a standard 4-Pin radio? Can’t find such an adapter. Can it be wired to work?

Thanks,
Jim

It can.
If I remember correctly the 980 6 pin mike connector only has a four wire (3 wires plus shield) cord on it.
I replaced the stock mike element on mine with an Adafruit electret module and had to use a 5 pin cord for the 8 volt supply to the electret element.

It shouldn't be much of a problem to wire up an adapter.

One of these (below), a bit of mike cord and a 4 pin mike plug should get the job done.

Is it possible to wire the Uniden mic directly to a 4-Pin connector?

Riverman,
I have a note on that here somewhere. I will try and track it down and report. Also have a new 980 still in the box I could check the mike plug pin out if need be. Might be faster than finding my note!!

Edit:
Found my notes.
The stock 980 mike plug wiring is:
Pin 1 Audio (Yellow wire)
Pin 2 RX Switching (Black wire)
Pin 3 TX Switching (Red Wire)
Pin 4 No Connection
Pin 5 Shield
Pin 6 No mike cord connection but 7.8Vdc at radio side jack
