Ok so I saw this video on cutting a wire in the radio. This mod is suppose to "unlock the clarifier" What does that mean? I also saw a video on another radio (don't recall which one) but when the guy turned his clarifier knob the frequency lcd change in small increments. My 980 doesn't do this. Is it suppose to?

Uniden 980ssb cut wire mod and modulation

there is more to the clarifier mod than cutting the wire. and the freq read out is a display on the 980 not a true freq counter. it will not move. like channel 1 to 40 it just moves when you change channels.
on the clarifier mod you have to remove a diode in you place and remove a second and install a svc251 diode in its place and remove a wire on a plug and hook it to 8 volts constant. see if you can see what it takes to do it on this video
