Picked up a nice looking Grant XL. Has a big 6 position knob on the right side. Wondering if this arrangement has a common map.

Just a quick check reveals channel 38 is on band 1, 2 and 6.

Any help appreciated.

Late to the party here, sorry. I have two Grant XL's, one with the PLL jump and the other with a Digiscan. How is your 6 pos switch set up, and what freq's does it give you? Is it a "export" board, or just a pll jump?

Got pics???

Haven't looked inside yet, but suspect a PLL jump. I need to dig up a freq counter or scan with another rig.

Seems to play nice and got good reports on our local net tonight.

Never heard of a 6 position switch used on a Uniden Grant XL for channels. All it takes is 2 switches. I bet there are a shitload of duplicates.

I bet that this is how it's mapped.

Pos 1) Ch 15-27 = 26.815 ~ 26.955
Pos 2) Normal 40 channels
Pos 3) Ch 37-40 = 27.415 ~ 27.445 (some radios can be tapped to run Ch. 23, 26, 27, and 28)
Pos 4) Ch 15-27 = 27.455 ~ 27.595
Pos 5) Ch 1-40 = 27.605 ~ 28.045
Pos 6) Normal 40 channels

Some people put 28.055 ~ 28.085 on Pos 6, although I don't know why, LOL...

But that's a common "cookie cutter" 6 position switch mod, provided that each position clockwise moves you up in the band.

~Cheers~
