Upgrading to a new Base Station

Hello tram Guy, welcome to the forum!!!! I would recomend a Galaxy 2527 if you have not looked into them yet, i am VERY happy with the ones ive had and i beleive it will leave you with a smile on your face at that! Also (if you want to get rid of that tram, let me know), C ya!!

Hi, I'm looking for a little info. Right now I'm running a D201A Tram which I've had since the 1970's and looking to upgrade to a newer base unit. When I quit CBing back in the late 70's, I was using all crystal sets, including the Tram. I had a switch and a socket, a vfo and freq counter and a pile of crystals I'd change for addit channels. These days, all that stuff is gone but the D201A and a D62 Mobile Tram....including all the local CB doctors I worked with back then. I've forgotten most of what I knew and there is no help around here. I was considering upgrading to a new base unit and would like some suggestions, recommendations. I've considered a Ranger TR696F, Galaxy DX2547 or.......I would like one which easily accepts upper and lower channels and tweaks up well. Does anyone know of anyone near the south Jersey area to contact for work or is it possible these days to buy a new radio with mods already installed? Possibly even from the web? It has to be a base unit with SSB and preferably a freq counter, price is not the most important thing but is considered. I could have the tram worked over but, as I mentioned, there is nobody nearby to do it and it has some problems in Sideband already.
