That Icom base (I forgot the model number, there's only one) for VHF/UHF sure looks nice. It doesn't have 220, but it has just about everything else, even crossband repeat when you add the UX-910 1.2 Ghz option. For an FM only rig, the Kenwood TM-D700A looks pretty nice. I haven't found a unit yet that has 2m,220,440,1.2 that's all mode with crossband repeat. If someone made one, it would cost small fortune, though.

Stu,

I have the Kenwood 700a I use mostly for sideband. Excellent radio. I've talked to NYC, about 200 miles on 10 watts a lot. I can reach NJ around 100 + miles easily on the same wattage. The guy I talked to in NJ said my beam and 10 watts was giving him a solid s-9.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">

BRS-Business band Radios

Hello all...

what are good radios for business band or BRS..
need to get 4 or 5 to sell to another..
perferibly mobile...

Thanks
Bob

I have an FT-847 that I use for VHF and UHF Ham, as well as 11 meters SSB, FRS/GMRS, and MURS. It has done everything well for a few years now, no trouble. Open transmit mod is easy, but a little scary to have 1500 dollars of radio open on the table! It makes a great shortwave receiver and general VHF-UHF public service type scanner/monitor as well.
