Where did the term "videogate" come from and why is it used so heavily when posting videos of CB radio contacts? Just curious, not complaining. No dictionary has the term, chatgpt hasn't heard of it, and searching it returns nothing but a few scandals and CB radio stuff. Did CB'ers invent a new term or did I miss something in popular culture recently?

In this case it comes from the saying
" rolling the water gate"
When doing CB shootouts we would line up facing the receiving station.
They would start a audio recording of the channel we were on.
The two opponents would key down, and they recorded the signals.
Playing back the " gate" would allow them to call a winner.
When the internet and YouTube went global it was called a Video Gate.
One of the first I know of was Scott, 4040 that coined the phrase, but I can't prove he came up with it. (rip)
The original meaning of water gate goes back to the Nixon administration and a few recordings........
