When I try to restart by pressing HM/RV + MENU power on, nothing happens, the radio just turns on normally. I hear that this mod does not apply to some US versions. Any input on this? Apparently if the nod succeeds then you can tx on: 120-173.995 MHz, 220-221.995 MHz, 400-469.995 MHz, 300-576 MHz
Can I have some help on how to tx on the air band with my rx-8r; I already have the resistor mod on it. Thanks

1 Power on

2 set MODE (press and hold MENU)

3 # 21 CWID

4 turn CWID (on)

5 Push "MODE"

6 Turn DIAL to A, push "MODE"

7 Turn DIAL to H, push "MODE"

8 repeat 6-7, to type in "AH029M"

9 Push "SET" to get out of set mode

10 Power off

11 Push HM/RV + MENU power on

12 Turn Dial to choose MODE ***

13 Push Function

14 Power off

15 Power on

I tried this also, and it didn't reboot as described. I have US model too.
I did have resistor already removed for other extended Tx modification which worked fine.

and also, the list of extended TX range doesn't make much sense.
120-173.995 MHz, 220-221.995 MHz, 400-469.995 MHz, 300-576 MHz

what does it mean 400-469.995 MHz plus 300-576 MHz ? Why not just write 300-576MHz? Thats is HUGE Tx capability.

cheers

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
