wanting to build some kind of beam but have NO idea where to start

Yup.
That last thread by HomerBB shows you how to build a 2 element Quad beam out of a simple loop antenna. But using the same parts and adding some, you can easily turn it into a 3 or ever 4 element Quad beam. Very cool stuff, Maynard . . .

i havn't built any beams or even tried to . im very impressed by HomerBB's loop project though . he's getting very positive results with it , it looks to be very sturdy and even if you bought the wire , PVC and conduit new it would still be very inexpensive . all thats needed is the ability to read a tap measure , cut a line and drill a few holes . and he supplies lengths for everything :D

Thanks for the mention, fellas.
It is an easy antenna to build. That is part of the appeal of a Quad beam.
Today I had a couple contacts into Great Britain with it, and in the other direction I have talked to Australia and New Zealand. I know you can talk all over the world on a wet toothpick with the right conditions, but there is something great about putting an antenna together that opens up those opportunities for you.
I heard the same stations on the vertical antenna, too, however, not as well. Conditions favored the beam today. Also, the Vertical is a 30' +/- Sigma4 at 41.5' high compared to the 2 element quad at 30' high.
Enough said.
If I can help, let me know.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
