I have been off the air for about 15 years now but due to requests put the solercon back in the air. not a real problem here but i am 35' + off the roof,
and im holding a 1.2 to 1.4 swr. Not using a ground yet, but am getting alot of noise from 6 to 8 consistently and when using my echo mic i get squeeling and have to turn my mic gain down. everythings new except the antenna which is doing well right now. will grounding take care of these little probs and drop my swr too? been so long ago since i was into it. didnt have elements on the antenna back then either and held a 1.1 on all bands, setting nuts are all the way down.
any suggestions will be greatful.

thanks from the watchdog of northern Illinois

From what you've described, you have things about as normal as they get. A safety ground wouldn't be a bad idea, but I doubt if there will be any significant changes in SWR, there's nothing wrong with it anyway.

(You really don't want to know what I think would 'improve' that 'echo mic'.)

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
