I bought an antenna earlier thinking it was a maco V58 but, I guess folks are calling it a 0-5 or something.

Either way I put it on a short pole to set the SW and it seems to work well.

I took it back down for weather proofing.

What kind or grade of silicone should I use to keep rain out?

I would Never use Silicone. I use 3M Electrical Tape & Coax Seal. Birds will peck Silicone off, but they will not touch Coax Seal & Coax Seal will last far longer & it will Not allow any form of moisture in. It's so good I use it on my boat trailer lights & they get submerged & it does not fail. Put a couple of layers of the electrical tape & cover with a good amount of coax seal & then cover the coax seal with another wrapping of tape.
