What Final Came In 1996 Cobra 29s?

I have a NOS 29 on the way & was curious what final they came with in 96. All this talk about mosfets, bipolars & such is screwing with me since all I've ever owned are tube base stations.

2sc2078. People switch out finals to get more power but I prefer to leave it alone and use an amplifier. Thise hot rod cobra 29s only seemed to cause more RFI when running power. I have had alot better results with a lightly modified 29.

When you say lightly modified, just a simple tune that will peak around 20 watts or so?

Yes. Just a basic tune up and variable power if needed. The best thing you can do to a 29 or similar radio is a receiver alignment. The transmit side is usually OK of the box but the receiver can be noisy.

Another thing that is important when tuning a 29 is the freq alignment. I've seen them off quite a bit before, so it would benefit it to check its state of freq/tune.
