What size amp?

I was thinking about a 900 watt fatboy amp?

The big question is do you have the alternator to feed a big amp. You will need 100-120 amps to feed an amplifier that can take an input of 100 watts PEP. Here are just afew amplifiers that will work.

TNT 600hd

Transistors 4 x 2SC2879
Dimensions H 4 3/4' x L 11' x W 6 3/4'
Amp Draw (maximum) 100
Class B biasing
SSB Delay yes
Pre-amp yes
Driver Required TNT 250 (optional)
Power Output (RMS) 300 Watts
Power Output (PEP) 625 Watts
Driven Power (RMS) 400 Watts
Driven Power (PEP) 1000 Watts
install recommended with 4ga wire
and 125a fuse. Max input carrier of
20w or 300w max carrier from amp.
Max peak input 240w.

Price: $375.99

TNT 1200HD

Transistors 6x 2SC2879
Dimensions H 4 3/4' x L 11' x W 6 3/4'
Amp Draw (maximum) 120
Class B
SSB Delay yes biasing
Pre-amp yes
Driver Required TNT 250 (optional)
Power Output (RMS) 400 Watts
Power Output (PEP) 725 Watts
Driven Power (RMS) 650 Watts
Driven Power (PEP) 1200 Watts
install recommended with 2ga wire
and 125a fuse. Max input carrier of
25w or 450w max carrier from amp.
Max peak input 350w

Price: $544.99

Nothing smaller then 4x 2SC2789 6 or 8 of them would be even better. WIth that sad a 4 transistor amp isnot going to survive 100 watt's drive unless the input has been swamped. I am pretty sure Fatboy is not swamping their input stage at all so you would still need to turn down that radio.

A 667 use's 1X 2290 to drive 4 2SC2789 trans. and that is at best an 80 watt driver. So your radio can dump more power in then a 1 driving four amps driver! Something to think about!!!

On top of that I do not even talk on a CB or radio anymore and even I know Sam Lewis has repeatedly said not to use that radio on anything with less then 4 transistors.
