What's this old K40 worth?

Around 20 years ago my buddy had the same experience with a k40. Keyed up his pc66 into a 2 pill and swr was fine. Modulated one time and that was it. Swr went sky high. I assume it was the ceramic cap taking a dump. He put his Wilson 500 back on and had no problems.

It was known since day one with K40's that they did not like power yet people keep trying.

I have been using the original K40 since the 70's, the newer K40 bases and the replacement assemblies are a clear plastic (I guess to see the cap???). Not as strong as the older ones, so if gets dropped or banged the plastic can crack.

It's like trickle down economics.........never works but our politicians keep trying.
