Which one of my CB radios should I mod for HiFi TX and RX ?

President HR2510 (works well but needs a little work on the RIT)

Cobra 148GTL Side mic (in great shape, needs a new mic gain pot), has uppers and lower channels

Galaxy DX 77HML (identical to the Ranger 3900HP)

Galaxy. It is wide as barn doors from factory ;)
Needs only some polishing and if mod will go wrong you can easily replace it with another one.

I never did HiFi on a 2510. I know the Galaxy is easier to do than the 148. But I think the 148 sounds better in the end.

I see... the Galaxy DX 77HML is not your typical galaxy, it is really a Ranger 3900HP in Galaxy's clothing.

I've owned several galaxies and others with the 3900 board and was not impressed with either the tx or rx and the 3 power level buttons sucked monkey b**ls

I pick the cobra 148...heard they sound better after the mod than the others...and have heard them in DX land and they do sound good....wish my eye sight was not so bad...I would attempt the hifi mod.

It was a very common board that RCI built for lot`s of radios.
That was just about the most popular board that they used.

3600 board is a very popular board, I like the 6900 boards better for some odd reason though. I'd go with the Galaxy if it were me though. Of course the basic mods on a 148 and then a good alignment...I guess I'm nostalgic when it comes to the older Cobras
