Im a newbie but been around all the cb stuff. Im looking for a good radio to put in my truck. I like the galaxy 99 alot. I dont want to go in debt over this. Just want a nice little radio. Thanks

Shaun

If you want a solid radio that will last, get the Cobra 25/29 or the Uniden 68/78.

If you want bells and whistles (echo, talkback, roger beep, etc) get the Stryker or any other "export radio".

I agree, a Cobra 25 is what I use in my truck. Excellent receive sensitivity, and great output with a little work. You can use them as wheel chocks, and still use them as radios afterwards. VERY tough and reliable radios.

The 25s also get 2 thumbs up from me ! I've used one now for 3 years in my car , it serves me well for an AM only radio , good rejection ,good noise blankers ,and can be modded for those who like to play around a bit. They look good and there not real big , a good echo board in them can surely give the audio a very nice boost. My personal favorite feature of the 25s is there noise blankers and receive, if you have a noisey engine that likes to make it through the antenna , these 25s will help a lot where noise can be a problem in that case. They get 2 thumbs up from me.

cb radio

Good suggestions, should do you good.
When you get your radio, turn it on ...washington county...chnl 30
chnl 5 scott county
and myself or chnl 13 or 8

Get a CDX Number lots of fun.

doctor/13 or 5

You might want to look at the Magnum 257. Great price, nice little package, not so much on the "bells and whistles" like the 99, but has very similar RF performance to the more expensive "Export" CB's. It has AM/FM/SSB, whereas the Cobra is AM only. The Cobra has a tighter receiver, but not too many other advantages over the exports that I can think of.

i have no clue lol im cb dumb
i just wanna talk to other trucks here in my hometown im sure they dont have nothing special

I agree with Highlander, the Magnum 257 is a decent radio with a few extras and for 170 bucks you cant go wrong

Sounds like you only need AM

but do you ever see yourself
trying to talk skip

or strictly local

if local you need only AM rig
if skip would come into play then SSB should be in radio

i prolly wont never talk skip, if i wanted to i could use my dads galaxy base station
So looks like i just need a AM

What antenna would i need? My dad uses Wilsons on the trucks but he has two one on each mirrior i just need only one. He said something about a K40?

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
