2005 Toyota highlander with K-40 trunk lip mount centered on hood at the windshield.
radio is galaxy 949.
k-40 was tuned to 1.3 with the internal galaxy meter set to swr.

I bought a workman swr-3p to tune the maco v58 on the roof many years back.
recalling that I had it, I hooked it up in line to the k-40 and 949 and tuned it down to about 1.15 on 19.

I Thought Great!, removed it and hooked everything back together.
On a whim, I tested the swr again on the radio and it was up to 1.5 on 19.

ergo my dilemma.

either way your good to go. but to answer your question always use a external swr meter
or better yet a mfj259 antenna anylizer.

And unless you bought your self an expensivo precision test instrument most if not all the meters we use are just relative indicators of SWR and power out. What w9cll said is right on....under 2.0 on HF and your golden.
