Which tube has higher output?

The m 2057 or the 42kn6 ?

The M-2057 is the "sweep tube" with the highest dissipation level. No other sweep tube exceeds its rating and its only equal is the 8908 version in an octal base. The two tubes are identical except the M-2057 uses the 12 pin Compactron base.

more question........6MJ6/6LQ6 are they the same

The 6MJ6 has the same plate dissipation as a 6LQ6, but has sturdier plate construction. The 6MJ6 is what you could call an "industrial grade" 6LQ6. But both are 30W plate dissipation per tube.

So if you are retubing a amp is it worth paying more for the 6MJ6 or is the 6LQ6 sufficient ?

6LQ6's are just fine. No need to replace with 6MJ6's.
