I can hit hilltop repeaters at 30+ miles with a "decent" signal on either of mine. Your limitation is going to be the receiving antenna. My signal at 4 miles on simplex is strong enough that I'd have to guess that a yagi at one end should double that if you can get it up in the air over rooftop height.

Thanks, appreciate the info. I'll be testing my radio soon and will also be building a portable yagi that I saw on YouTube (Guy was on Mount St. Helen and hit a repeater 211 miles away using 5 watt HT.) Worth a try I guess. I'll be posting what happens. Thanks again!!
I actually eneded up going with the KG-UV3D the 440 model. Going to pick it up tomorrow, I'll let you know how it is.

I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
