White. Noise vr pod

The RF gain reduces gain, it doesn't eliminate RX altogether. Depending on the level of natural/manmade noise you will still hear some even with it wound right down, it'll just not be as strong as it was. So if the RF gain reduces gain by 20dB and you have a -100dB noise source, it'll be -120dB with the RF gain reduced and that'll still be audible.

There is also the internal noise generated by the components in the radio as well.

Does anybody happen to know witch vr pod controls white noise and static when I have my rf gain closed I still get static thanks

Just for the record it is "pot" not "pod". It is short for potentiometer. I wish I had a dollar for every time someone called it a pod. I would be a very wealthy man.
