Windows Vista or Windows 7 Audio Feedthrough?

My Ham shack computer runs Windows XP. I have a radio that sends audio into my sound card and then I play the audio through the computer speakers. In other words the audio feeds through.

I want to replace this machine with a newer one, and would like to keep running Vista on the new machine. Does Vista have a provision to feed audio through the sound card to speakers? I seem to remember a thread about this a few years ago but can't find it.

I thought that depended on the sound card you had and not the operating system. It's called loop through or input monitoring.

With Vista or Win7 you should be able to go into control panel/hardware and sound/sound and change the properties of the input(mic/line in) under the listen tab to pass the audio through the speakers
