Update.. I made a shorting jig and got into the service menu, it was pretty easy. When you do this you have to be careful not to change any thing except what you want to. I would suggest writing down what the manufacturer had them set to. As for my experiment it did not go well. Lowering the dead key was easy, you can lower it all the way down to nothing if that's what you want. Now for the bad it really screws up the audio, so bad you hardly understandable. So i had to raise my carrier back up to almost where it was to start with. Also to who ever was worried i was going to use a low drive cb amp. Ham radio and radio in general is a lot about experimentation, some things work and some things don't. This one did not go very well, but if i wish to use a cb amp i will.
