go with the yaesu ft250r you wont go wrong with it,i have had mine for over a year...use it every day,73 de JW
They both make good little HTs...I would say go with what you pocket can do and what features you are looking for
Both are decent. I usually look at battery size, chemistry, capacity and cost.

@ AWP:Is it possible to be on a lake and have a homing directional beam being emitted from the shore so a person could navigate to that beam's source? For example at night to a jetty.
