Hi. I just bought the radio 2 weeks ago. Just got the time to try it out. The radio transmits and receives fine. It did not come with a mic. So i found the wiring diagram to wire up my d104. White pin-2 shield and blue pin-1 red pin-3 I hope that is right. Any way i tried two different d104 mics. I have carrier but no modulation? Any ideal of what mite be wrong.

I had the same problem with mine when I first got it. The fix was to pull each board and carefully clean the contacts with a pencil eraser, and reinsert the boards. Havent had that problem again.

Is the mic gain turned up? ( I know, dumb question.)

That was my first thought. Also, if you are trying in "tune" there will be no modulation in that position. There will be carrier but no modulation.

The radio transmits and receives fine.
I'm interested in knowing how you feel it "transmits" fine. In what mode did you try this ?

Did you follow the "tune" procedure in the manual ? A little more info would be helpful.

followed the "tune" procedure in the manual. Mic gain is turned up. Tried transmitting in lsb/usb/am Also pull each board and carefully cleaned the contacts with a pencil eraser tech is sending me a new board.

Forgive for not remembering which crystal it is. But a friend of mine had the same problem you have and a certain crystal had gone bad. He ordered a new one and the radio works fine. Next time I see him I'll ask him which one it was.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
