dang radio should never had the so239 so covered up.i unhook my radios when its about to storm n this was hell to unhook.
yaesu prolly say warrenty void but last radio i sent in was factory screwup ,but they blamed me for using its 80 watts. im still bummed by that.if it wasnt to be used why was it set for 80 watts?
anyhow there never was paste under the finals. the other 2980 i made sure it has paste under its finals plus run heavier gauge wire too.
anyhow its now easy to unscrew pl 259.
the fan on top keeps it cool.ive used 80 watts for far chat with a friend and it now stays cool.
on a 100 degree day it rarely got over 120 degrees. im thinkin fan and bigger wires helped as this 1 would get very hot at the area from the t connecter to the radio. now wires stay cool

I use these two items for my Stryker, which is also nearly impossible to access.

if id had room to send coax down id done that also. but space is limited. so far no regrets from cutting it out
