i ended up with a ft 2980 . its sorta ok,but a quirk.
i adjust mic gain down below 3 ,cant be heard. set it at 4 everybody says im screaming at them.
now comes the interesting part,i got a couple of those $15. flea bay yaesu chineseium made mics. set either 1 at 3 on mic gain and i get wow you sound like you in person.
do i send the oem mic back to yaesu n hope its not another checks out fine sorry you paid us to tell you that?
recieve is ok output power is ok.
oh yes power setting dont seem to matter either. using a gp5 at 60 ft 1.2 to 1 swr or tram 1481b at 50 ft with swr at 1.3 to 1 on 146.460 where a few of us hang out at
