yeasu 840 high power key up.

Good morning i have a 840 that keys up high power only regardless where it is set. can anybody make a suggestion on what be the problem.

Try this to start unplug the power to the radio remove the top cover becareful there are speaker wires that are plugged in to the board so dont pull or jerk on that cover. After removing the cover with the front or face of the radio pointing towards you look at the front of the board at the right center you will see a switch its a 2 position slide switch if you look closely in small writting it says 100 at one side and 50 at the otherside switch it to 50 watt setting plug the radio in turn it on and see if that changes the output or atleast brings it down turn the RF output knob aswell try AM ssb and CW.

Let me know if this makes any difference to start out.
