A young friend of mine (dare I say my understudy) has take on a tube amplifier project, this is his first tube amplifier project.

He has decided to build a single 3-500z Desktop amplifier with a B+ supply located outboard in another case.

He does his own work according to his plans and, I check his work and offer suggestions.

DAY ONE

Nice job so far.

What do you have in mind for air?

Got a safety choke?

Hows about a thermistor current limiter on the primary of the fil xfmr?

This might inspire certain others to get their stuff done. I'm one myself in the pile of parts stage.

I'm waiting for him to chime in and answer your questions.

This is a view from the bottom with his choke mounted at the junction of the output coax and Antenna Load tuner.

Amp as of 12-16

Amp as of 12-16, I've made some more progress but the wife is getting tired of my crap being in the kitchen. I'm buying a couple blank 19' rack panels for the amp & HV supply. I have to build another rigid frame for the HV transformer. Once finished, I have a small 4 post rack I'll modify to height & enclose the amp & supply.
I'd appreciate any comments or reccomendations.
Rooster.
