Does any one have any info on RM's KL-501 amp, are they any good, meaning do they cause any rf noise problems , do they have clean output?
Any input on this particular amp would be appreciated, thanks

If it's like most of the other RM-Italy HF amps, they're not that great. Based on the images, you can tell that there isn't any band pass filtering for each band, so they can't be clean. It's probably just their basic CB style amp that they've broadbanded to work 160-10 meters.

I have a friend that uses one for 11M only and he's quite happy with it. I've compared the schematics to the KL-500 and they are almost identical. The 501 has some LED's to show power output level and an option to use remote keying from your rigs acc socket, these are the only differences I can see. There is certainly no attempt at filtering at all in either the KL 500 or the KL 501

KL-501

Lot of the guy that rag chew on 10 meters use the kl-501 doing about 250-270 watts we are about 75-90 miles apart and they sound pretty good no distortion of any kind as to the distance from me i don't hear and band bleeders and we talk for about 3 - 3 1/2 hours nightly and most weekends. I my self will stick to my AL-80B:whistle:

I've found my KL-501 to be a very clean amp. I see about 400 watts SSB with a low input. When I needed a little more on HF. It sure did job.

Hmmm, I wonder if the RM KLV 250's suffer from this distortion issue as well, in five years I've hear no remarks from folks I'm chatting with.
