She and her parents should be convicted in Stupid Court for doing what she was trying to do.

Brave? Yes. Hyper adventurous? Fine. Smart for a 16 year old to sail around the world alone? Me no think so. Parents should be spanked.

where do they find these people?? I think this is more like a child abuse or neglect issue sending your teenage daughter off to sea alone in a little sailboat all they forgot to do was taint her food or drill small holes in the bottom of the boat
