Ok Today 7-7-2010 I will be working the AO-51 at 1808 eastern time.

I'm starting this thread for members to post up Sat's they will be working so we can try and make some contacts.

Well I listened to the pass but couldnt get a word in edge wise, maybe the SO-50 and AO-27 would be better for us to make some contacts.

Listen to John's(K8YSE) recording, you made it through, once, but I didn't hear the station you were calling come back. John is amazing, it wasn't 20 minutes after the pass and the recording was posted on his website.

I sent out my call a few times on the pass, nothing.

Ya John has the best recordings. He has one heck of a station as well and can receive from horizon to horizon. I have been picking his brain for ideas on setting up a base. I think I might be getting a FT897D with a tuner for HF, we shall see. Then I need to get the antenna stuff sorted out.

FT-897

Craig,

I have an FT-897D that I am really liking. Have not been using it on the sats yet, but plan to. It's been great on digital modes so far and I've worked some great DX on SSB and PSK-31. The LDG AT-200 tuner I bought with it has been fantastic.

Thanks for the Info Phil, If the deal I am trying to work falls through I might just get a new FT-857D but I really like the looks of the FT897D . Anyway we shall see ...

I'll be working FN-23 for a couple of weeks, so listen out for FN23 and I will add FT Drum NY on my calls. If I get a chance to wander into Canada I'll try to let everyone know.

The 897 is a great radio for the price i love mine no complaints. I was lucky enough to score an as new one with FP-30 power supply and MH-59 mic for $650 back in November and couldn't be happier although i plan on getting a K3 soon it will still be used as my VHF/UHF/Satellite rig (once i get my satellite antennas up) can't go wrong.
