Kenwood Tx on 121.5

Maybe and NO.

The MARS/CAP mod might take it into the AM Aircraft Band but the VHF AIR band is all AM. That Kenwood HT is FM only.

If you need a an Air Band HT....get one. It will be tuned for the freqs and work best and it will come with a tuned antenna for that band.

Any VHF FM radio I have ever seen that will at least cover the air band in RX mode, AND is convertible to transmit outside the normal ham band specifically excludes the air band. I have modded a lot of such radios and they all transmitted on 136.000MHz and above but were programmed to exclude transmitting in ANY mode on the air band. That was done for obvious reasons. There is one HT on the market that is a combination ham band AND air band unit but the model escapes me at the moment.

My vx-6r transmits great on the air band.. a friend that is a pilot used it a while back as a backup when the radio went out during a flight.

To my knowledge, the only one that works on both 2m and Airband is the Vertex VXA-700.

And it's a completely terrible airband handheld.

Apparently the VOR function is worthless, and the receiver quality is very poor.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
