I just installed a used wheat lamp its really bright. I didn't use the other white wire for ground but soldered the ground end to an existing can on the board. but 2 days later, poof, Not working. Im thinking if I should add a resistor inline. I tried one time adding resistor inline for 12vlt applications and it heated up.

Help!!!!

Not sure about the 2510; but I know that Cobra/Uniden radios go through a resistor so that it tones down the bulb strength. In fact, I did what you did awhile back and put the bulb getting direct 13.8v into a Cobra meter. Melted that meter within two days and had to replace it!
lol!
Live and learn.

I would go back into the radio and find out where the "+" wire for the original bulb was soldered - and attach it there.
Before you melt the meter like I did . . .

I dont think its the heat that killed it, I think the extra voltage is the prob. Even if I install an LED, Id still need a resistor in line thou.

Thanx for the info guys.

OK, thanx guys. Will keep ya posted. Looked so good to see the meter lit up, then this morning, kaput!!!

Will look around. Aloha james.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
