How much ripple is acceptable on a plate supply?

The quick-n-dirty answer is as little as possible. The longer version is that if there's no recognizable affect on the resulting signal, then you can quit worrying about it. What percentage is that? Beats me, just depends on if you (or anyone) can detect if there's an affect on your signal specifically from that ripple.
