Bin is correct, you can still get original 2879`s but the price has skyrocketed
They just had to stop making the original 2879`s because they now have to be RoHS compliant.
The New 2879A uses an Aluminum Nitrite insulator (color gray) on the header vs. Berillium Oxide (color white).
The Berillium Dust can be dangerous to humans, and you are not even supposed to throw them in the trash, they should be disposed of as Hazardous waste.
Same thing goes for the 2290.
The Very latest 2290`s called a 2290B with lot numbers higher than 8I and Above require 20 to 25% higher drive.

The demand for 2879s and 2290s has declined in recent years and like Oil....there can be unlimited supply and the price keeps going up.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
