Are you a ARRL Member?
What do "you" benefit from it?
What membership plan are you paying for and why?

I know the site Tell's you what the benefits are, but I want "your" Opinion.

I believe we DO need an organization like the ARRL to represent and protect our interests. In it's current state, I feel they waste membership money on stupid stuff. Their salaries and benefits are outrageous and they have a self serving elitist inner circle.

I am a paying member here, the NRA and a couple porn sites, that is all.

I am a member, but only for the magazine. I don't agree with the ARRL on a number of things. 'QST' is the only reason I'm still with them. If it were sold on the 'news stands' (as it was at one time), they wouldn't hear from me again. There are reasons behind that and I won't go into them here.

Yes, I joined ARRL as soon as I got my ticket. I pay for the basic membership and I use it for the multifaceted information, I buy books there, I have an email address there and I can also participate in all of the activities and events as well. There are just so many features, why wouldn't any amateur operator subscribe?

Oh yes and of course QST.

I joined years ago when I first got my license, but after a couple years got bored with the magazine. A few pages of good stuff, but like most magazines today 90% are advertising. When the price went up I never renewed. However a few weeks ago, I re-subscribed after finding a coupon code online that you can get various free stuff with a subscription. I got a new Operating Manual free (my old one is about 20 years old), but the magazine has not arrived yet. I just wanted something to read. The internet is such a wealth of knowledge, but I sometimes enjoy lying in bed reading a book or magazine rather than sitting up in a chair reading the monitor screen. A wireless laptop would probably be welcomed in my world.

I would probably subscribe to QST only if that choice were available.

Maybe. Print media is a dying / dead form of media.

I'm a card carrying member as well. Been a member for several years off and on.
I like QST, and the QSL Bureau as well as the new electronic version of QST.
I still like getting the print magazine and hope they continue that as well.
And they do represent Amateurs when it comes to politics. With no representation at
all we would have no where near the spectrum we now enjoy. Some has been lost and some has been gained. I think they do a fair job of representing Amateur Radio interests.

No, Agree with Mo that would perhaps subscribe for QST only if that was a choice but it isn't. The $39 yearly is too high. They do some good things but are a slow moving behemoth and don't care about the opinions or concerns of the individual member. Too many past problems that they won't acknowledge and can't seem to move forward from.

Some basic useful information is available to all on their website. The few paper QSL's I've exchange in the last many years, by request, I've done direct.

Some hams need them. I don't need them by any $39 dollars-a-year's worth.
