Hi Ya'll Does anybody know anyone who has got the above radio. How is it for SSB stabilaty, any known drift issues. Any issuses at all. Does it have to be peaked and tuned or is this done at the factory? The beeps dont bother me as they can be turned off. What I'm looking for is what are people saying as to how it sounds to other radio users. Is it clear sounding or does it sound raspy. Are the finals good quality?? Is it generally a good radio so far? Thanks Folks...

There's a guy about 8 miles from me that's had one for a few weeks. He talks mostly AM. It sounds very good with the stock mic. I've had him on sideband once and it sounded very good as well.
He got it off ebay and had a local guy convert it for him. I know he really likes it. cbradiomagazine.com did a fine lengthy review on it. They come with a 3 year warranty, but not sure if they honor a clipped one or not, they probably do.
From what I've read, they seem to be a solid performer right outta the box. It has plenty of gizmos and gadgets if'n yer into that. They are pricey.

Got mine last end of last week, made the export mod and tried it first time over the weekend. EVERYONE loved the audio, bang on frequency on SSB and works super well. This in time could go the same way as the Lincoln, works well from the box. Mine came with a cheap quality mike that had "cb microphone" wrote on it, even with that said all loved the audio

When you get to know it better and have time I would like to here more about the radio and use on am and sideband etc. Likes and dislikes! CBradiomag.com did a good review also.
Sure will do, this weekend will give it a bash with AM, have been told the audio was strong, not too much bass and punchy but will have more fun at the weekend, snow allowing
I finally opened the box containing my new 955. I've been sick for a week and just started feeling better today, so I drug it out.
First thing I did was to remove the bottom case and lifted up one side of the little resister to expand the radio. Should be easy to solder it back down if needed.
Turned the rig on and was greeted with some potent white noise. This thing has a noisy receive. I was expecting it, but not that much. You'll use the RF gain for sure. The adjacent channel rejection seems better than some reviews have mentioned. I found it to be acceptable. The noise blanker sucks. The ANL takes out more noise. The NB did a poor job on local correlated sources I have compared to my other CB's and exports.
It gets great AM, FM and SSB audio reports. The controls are easy to see and operate. PC programming is easy with no issues on Win 7. No, the cable won't work with the CRE 8900. Output power is as advertised. Stability on SSB seems great. I like the radio, but it's a noisy SOB on AM. It's even noisier than my 8900, and that's a noisy ass radio also.
The stock mic came out on top when compared to a 636 and RK 56.
I don't think it's worth the money myself. If you can pick up a used one at a fair price (<$200) it might be an okay purchase. I don't think I'd want to have this in a mobile environment. Noise galore.

And did you get an ok mike with Stryker on, or one with nothing, or like on mine with "CB Microphone" written on it

I been thinking about getting one of thes but also am unsure because of mixed feelings on them. Ar vthese 10 meter radios or will they cover 12 meters aswell?? I am a diehard 2950 and 2970 user so it would take a bit to get me to set one of those asside to try something new.
As far as stability Ive never had nor do any of my 2950 chassis radios drift on SSB so that would be a new one on me that the new stryker is more stable yet. Im not sure how anything can be more stable than something that is stable and doesnt drift at all anyways.

They do drift, just about everything does to some degree. The 2950's and 70's will drift about 30Hz over and hour of use at room temp. But that isn't anything to write home about, Still pretty good.
Has anyone tested this with the Stryker?
