Nice little find and yes, the Firebird (and it's derivative, the Kicker) are one of the better sweep tube CB amps out there. I have one on the shelf as a backup in case my Phantom ever craps out.
800 watts? Not on a bet. If you hit it hard enough you can get 500 out of it but you will burn through those tubes a LOT faster and it won't sound good. However it will cruise along nicely at around 350 all day long, sound good doing it and no one will ever know the difference.
I run all 6LQ6 tubes in mine and it works just fine. Couldn't hurt to place a small muffin fan on the top or side of the case, just to keeps things cool.
