Need input for a new purchase. Looking for something around the size of cobra 25 but more channels. It is going in a honda accord.

1. Front of radio mic input
2. extra channels ( i like 26.915)
3. good modulation
4. GREAT receive
5. Needs to be small.:pop::pop::pop::pop:

from hearing your needs .
If it were me i would get a magnum 257

small , front mic , powerful , wide frequency , and sounds and listens good . and if properly tuned has a killer receive . hope this helps .

my friend on the local channel has one and it is pretty amazing

Uniden PC-122XL with a Galaxy "N" kit installed. The "N" kit will tune the channels above 40, or the channels below 1. If you get an Expo "N" kit, you'll be able to get 40 channels below 1 and 40 channels above 40.

Radio is small, great receive, front mic, good modulation with no need for a power mic. Just my .02 worth. :)

~Cheers~

I'm in agreement with both suggestions. I have a 257HP, and it is a really good little rig. Does all it's supposed to, and more.

If you can find one of the PC122XL's, or the Radio Shack one that's just like it, it ought to rock. The low output rigs work great with a small RM 203/203P amp on AM and SSB, and don't take up much space, either.

i looked further into your needs and the Yeticom optima is like a magnum 257 but is specifically made for freebanders . i mention that because of the frequency you mentioned
i actually enjoyed researching this for you . you can see a review on this radio
at cbradiomagazine.com enjoy .

also another choice would be alinco dr 135 cb . but isnt sold here in THE US .

Searched the whole country.. Finally found one at a CB shop in Michigan. Lil more than I wanted to pay but it was their last one. Can u say rob me.... Magnum 257. Brand New in box. They have changed the name to Optimus Mark 3 now but i did find a 257. Yaaaay we will see if all thses reviews are true.

Optima MK3 - 10 & 12 Meter Amateur Radio w/ AM/FM/LSB/USB - 50 Watts is what they changed the name to.

You got a MK3?? Not the same as 257. I have had a 257 and it's not the same radio.

Yes I agree not the same radio but does the same thing ryyyyyyyyte :tt2:

yes and no,, just because the case looks the same,, its not the same radio,, I own both and the optima is a much better radio,, don't get me wrong the 257 will proby do what you want just fine, but the optima has several functions that are very nice that the 257 doesn't have and the optima has a better receive
