Hello again...looking for information related to Bluetooth CB Radios. I am aware of two (I know that there are variations) CB Radios that offer Bluetooth capability to answer cell phone calls, the Cobra 29 LTD BT (discontinued) and the Cobra 29 LX MAX (not the best reviews, reviewer issues with quality of the internals). So, my question is: does anybody else offer a CB Radio with bBuetooth capability? Does anybody know why the 29 LTD BT was discontinued? It seems like a good feature, I am considering this for my next radio. Any information would be appreciated, thank you.

Thanks for the reply, UNDERTAKER, I can only guess 'okay' as the 29 LTD goes back a few years, that being said, however, was it lacking and therefore discontinued? The LX MAX or lesser LX BT just seem to have too much going on, I like the feel of the mechanical knobs and functions of the LTD...I may have missed my opportunity to get one, but on the other hand, maybe I should get the newer LX...
I would imagine the Cobra 29 BT was discontinued because it didn't sell well. It probably didn't sell well because 1, not too many people needed one and 2, the radio overall probably sucked. Just a guess.
I don't know if the radio sucked or not, but I recall looking at the radio and briefly considering it.
My thought process went something like this, "Hey, that's a spiffy feature! Cool technology. But... what would I do with it?"
I can already pair my phone, via Bluetooth, to the stereo in my truck. (And I do, usually for listening to Podcasts, Iheartradio, and the occasional phone call that my wife wants to participate in). One or both of my GPS units have Bluetooth, so I can have a speakerphone conversation via those. (Tried it once; found it sucked) Plus, I have an actual Bluetooth headset. It works very well. Having Bluetooth capabilities on a CB is incredibly redundant and pointless, for me.
Now, I suppose, if you weren't much on listening to music or talk radio, it might be interesting to connect the CB to the stereo,via the Bluetooth (assuming that's possible; it probably is), and utilize the sound adjustment features, but I guess the usefulness of that depends on how much conversatin' you think you might be doing.
That was my take on it, anyway. And, I would guess that the target demographic probably felt the same way.
Thanks for your input, 9C1Driver and Sarasota Slim, my main reason for wanting one is to use it as a hands-free phone answering device. My truck (2004) has none of those 'modern' features. Do you know how either, especially the 29 LX MAX since that is the one that is available, works for phone calls?
I tried the Cobra Bluetooth headset and it sounds terrible. Thin audio, no punch. Luckily I bought it after it was discontinued so got it for less than $40. Don't waste your time or money looking for it.
There are ways to go wireless but you need a radio with VOX (voice activated transmit). The new President Grant 2 has it. There maybe more coming out in the future with all these distracted driving hands free laws trying to include radio communication.

My assumption is that, once your phone is paired to the radio, you would conduct the phone call in much the same way as you would conduct any other conversation on the CB; you key the mic and speak into it, when you have something to say. Conversely, when the person on the line is speaking, you hear their voice from the CB speaker.
Like I said, that's my assumption; but, I can't speak to it with any certainty. As I said, I while I was impressed with the technology, I found that I had no use for it. However, I'm glad that you have found a use for the concept; and I hope that it proves practical for you.

Thanks, fourstringburn, but I am talking aboyt onky answering an incoming cell phone call, from what I understand, once paired all I have to do is oress the blue button onnthe mic which results in my phone conversation taking place iver the CB speaker...have you done that?
Heil makes a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver adapter you could probably rig up.
Some Yaesu 2 meter radios had Bluetooth at one time but those were discontinued. I'm thinking that audio technology hasn't been perfected for radio communication yet or they would still be made.

Thanks, Sarasota Slim, I was responding similarly to fourstringburn at the same time...now I need to know if the LX BT or the LX MAX is the way to go, or hunt down an LTD BT. And between the LXs, if the MAX 'radar' features are nothing but gimmicks, does anybody know?
No, I wasn't using the Cobra radio do don't know about the phone call operating.
I misunderstood your post, I was thinking you were needing it for wireless audio too.
No, just simple hands free cell phone operation...I don't get many calls, but my daily commute takes me through several very strict jurisdictions. Five points is too many to take the chance any longer.
Understandable, I'd go with dedicated seperate Bluetooth headset or visor type, I believe you still have to hold the mic for phone calls with that radio which is pointless. I use a Jabra visor model.
