If it were a 1978 car you would wonder how many belts, hoses, gaskets, seals and such parts were original.
After that many years, none of them should be. Not if you want to drive it farther than around the block.
If the last four decades of maintenance has been done to this one, it should be okay.
And if it has any original electrolytic capacitors in it, they will fail before you get too far down the road.
The original relays might still be good.
Might.
This model requires insanely little drive power. Good chance that most any radio made since 1978 will overdrive it.
Abe Brewer, the designer of this model was selling hot rods. Takes a really light touch on the throttle to use it as a daily driver.

Any tube amps of this era will need to be restored if they haven't been already.
Minimally capacitors will have to be replaced.
But in most cases more will need to be done. Tubes are are another main thing to consider when purchasing these vintage amplifier. The sweep tubes used in these amplifiers are available, but are expensive. Some amplifier will be able to be retrofit retrofit in order to use a cheaper tube. In my opinion they're terrific pieces of equipment when they're fully restored and operating at 100%. Some amplifier of this vintage weren't designed correctly from the get-go. There are many articles on almost every one of these amplifier, and the things that can be done to them in order to get him working better then they did the day they left the factory.
From first-hand experience I can say with 100% certainty that if you cannot do these upgrades, and parts replacement yourself get ready to spend some cabbage fortunately there are people with the knowledge who still will refurbished these amplifier to a hi quality, and will take mail ins.
