If FCC gave CB 50 watts

I run a uniden bearcat 980 as base station, with a full wave verticle side fed loop at 42 feet, in the mobile a cobra 29.

I thought everyone was already running 50 watts on 11 meters :) I used to use 2 meters but it lost my interest pretty quickly.
Seems most run some power for sure. I am just of lsb 38 had a pair of ham guys hoggin the band, not sure why there using 11 meters, but they were owning the channel

How do you know they were hams? I run a Uniden 980 at legal 12 watts pep and have never keyed my ham radios on 11 meter band. If they tossed out their call signs you could look them up on the FCC ULS and filed a complaint. Were they hams because the radios sounded nice or had a bunch of power?

As Captain Kilowatt stated when conditions are right power does not mean a whole lot. I talked from my mobile using "Ham Sticks" to Mumbai India with 100 watts. I could have made that trip with 10 watts.

They said they were running Yaesu FT-101 ham rigs, no call signs, still on as I type. YES MY STOCK 980 GETS OUT EVERY DAY SKIP 1500 MILES.

Just because they were running Yaesu FT-101 does not make them hams.
They are illegally using ham gear on CB band.
This could be so, but from there style of conversation, they were not cb guys, and all they talked about was ham gear. Hey I don't care no big deal, just don't complain when cb guys get on your 10 meter bands with no lic.

I know lots of CB'ers that run Yaesu and other HAM radios. They are still CB'ers though.

However I also know some licensed HAM's that run their HAM radios on CB channels. No call signs that I hear anywhere on CB anymore though...CB or Ham.

I'm not concerned with that.

No I don't give a hoot, seems it's all wild wild west, sign me up ebay, time for a Yaesu FT-101
