I got a 99 that i have had in my truck got 10 yrs. I bought it used and modded. It seen very little use. The other day i turned it on and nothing it lit up and no receive. So i take it out of truck and hook it up in house still nothing. No transmit or receive. Freq counter shows 26.056 no matter what channel or band its on. It warms up for 10 min or so it will change frequency on the upper 3 bands but still no change on channel selector. I have looked it over for a bad solder joint but never seen any. Any ideas where to start?????

Welcome! I agree it sounds like some capacitors are shorted or changed value. I sent my 99 to Oldtech a member here and he fixed me right up. I have another radio that I am getting ready to send him too. Check it out:

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
