what would be the max dead key to put into a
2 pill , 2879 amp?

About 2W or so. No need to put any more in, as all it will do is make the transistors generate more heat, and heat is wasted power. Put 2W max in and let the radio swing from there, and you'll be good.

I was under the impression that those transistors could take more dead key. It’s going to be a pain in the butt to turn all my radios down lol. Most of my base radios are dead keying about five watts swinging to 10 maybe. I was hoping that would not blow the thing up.

Which 2979's, toshiba, dei, pp, hg ect. Im assuming toshibas, if so id keep it below 4w and give it some swing.

3 or less then. Make sure your swr is low. Hg's arent near as stout as Toshibas were.

Im a fan of an external variable on my base radios that will be used with an amp.
