This radio seems to keep showing up on my local Greigs List for sale so of coarse I am suspicious of the seller but would like to get a rating on this radio from the ones in the know. Can they be converted to CB with any real success or are they trouble waiting to happen ?

Just another 11 meter radio disguised as a 10m Amateur rig, so it can be marketed in the states.
I found a write-up by cb radio magazine on this radio and they didn't speak to highly of it. That's probably why it's been on Craig's list a few times lately and the guy wants $300.00 for it. Plus he doesn't list his phone # makes you think of a scam.

It was a relatively low-cost radio for what it offers. Looks to me like it was meant to compete with the Cobra 2010.

With the what?

Yeah.

Sold by shiny-metal electronics and others in the mid-to-late90s.

Made by a korean company named "Dragon", I think. They own the Philippines factory where it was made.

Not a terrible radio. And if it had been more memorable, maybe you would have seen more of them by now.

They were put out with a few different names, easy to do the conversion.
Albrecht and Cherokee were also in the mix
The one I had worked OK, but nothing to write home about. Frequency display rather then counter.

Oh Man! I don't know how I forgot about having one of these. I bought one of these from Copper and must have been right at the end of 8th grade. Because it was a piece of shit! And Copper finally replaced it after dear ol Mama bitched them out after a few months of attempted "Repairs" The replacement showed up right when the Girls gymnastics team won gold at the Atlanta Olympics and the UPS guy pissed her off all over again by interrupting and making her sign for it!

Haha Kids. Have my own now at that.

And I'm not breaking coppers balls either. While they did sell an 8th grader modification books, I hacked the shit out of the radio ;)

i recovered but never as good as i was before
the rifle is a 22-250 savage i had built to fit me. coyotes hate it too

i reload and go from lower speed powder heavy bullets for bigger game light bullets and fast powder for varmin. kinda an all around rifle
I use to reload also but I was working on a 6 MM load for deer. I had a beautiful Remington 700 BDL Varmite Special I could hit the bulls-eye at 450 yards and I didn't get the load perfected or trigger work done on the rifle. But unfortunately divorce took care of that dream. Now all my reloading stuff sets all boxed up. But I have eyed that 22-250 more then once. If I ever finish my work on this house I might get set up again !
