I am looking for an amp in the 100-150 watt range to use with a Galaxy 2547. I'm looking at
an rm Italy kl503 or a kl503 hd, I'm not sure the 503 can handle the peak swing on am, but the
hd one should be able to.

Any thoughts on these 2 amps or others that will fill the bill?

For the money they cost, the rm amps work really well. That radio clean should swing somewhere around 25 +/- pep, I would say the 503hd would pair up nicely with the 2547.

I've got 2 of the 503hd's because I'm a dx glutton so can say they're built pretty well. Many here use the rm's of different sizes and for the most part folks seem to like them.

That's just my opinion so take it for what it's worth.

I was thinking the 503hd should match pretty close, thanks for the advice.

Absolutely the 503HD version over the low drive unit. When I had the 503, I ended up bypassing the driver resulting in about 50 watts more pep ssb. And, unless you crank up your AM carrier to a ridiculous amount, it’ll handle everything that 2547 puts out. I wouldn’t be afraid to run it w/ a 5w carrier into it. Perfect match.
