We sold a ton of those back in the day. A lower priced basic radio like your 1-600 made them popular with first time buyers. An enduring survivor that’s also easy to repair or restore.
Not counting the Sears walkie-talkies I had as a kid in the 60s, that Royce was my first radio. A mid-70s Christmas present. It beat a poke-in-the-eye I reckon.

No doubt about it. Never did find a schematic for the thing. One batch got sold around here, and it was never seen for sale again.
