11 meter is very quiet?

Yup,I think we got more Sleet than Freezing Rain, they cancelled all of the local schools, and I had to move my Car inspection appt from this morning to later this afternoon due to the weather,at least it's on my day off, they are calling for another ice storm Sat night into Sunday morning, same set-up as today but only stronger I heard,Wonder if we can arrest that Groundhog up there in punxsutawney, LoL:P
how about ground chuck burgers?

Hung out on 27555USB for an hour or two today. Very long distance conditions were great!
Bagged a new country....22DF003, Jules in French Guiana, which is on the northeast coast of South America. Also had a brief contact with Panama, which is not a new country for me, but not a super common catch up here. Also a few less exotic contacts on various frequencies around the band.

My homemade delta loop antenna has amazed me several times this week.........

It's a wasps nest of a mess today here in my part of the world. Hopefully things will settle out some.

Hope to catch some of you wwdx folk on the air.
Unfortunately I had to work today,No radio time today for me, however I'm planning on being on the air tomorrow beginning at 10 am on 37 LSB throughout the day off and on,also will be checking in on top of every hour beginning at noon for the Sunday WWDX Net on 35 USB, hopefully conditions will cooperate to make contact with some WDX members out there ..........

I had a long day traveling from east Texas to Midland, TX to make a delivery. I hate working weekends BTW.
Anyway lots of activity from across the pond and here in the states. I only tried a few contacts today. AM and sideband.
After getting unloaded I started heading home. I listened to some 10 meters and for the first time I actually heard a Japanese operator. I believe it was on 28.487 USB. I listened to him make numerous contacts although I only heard a couple of the stations he was talking to. One was from New York and it must have took him 10 minutes to finally get called by the Japan station.
Other then that I heard a guy on channel 28 AM talking about how he lost a 100 dollar bet on who shot JR., way back when.

HAHAHAHA you never know what you'll hear on the radio.

I actually heard a Japanese operator.
Way out here on my island off the west coast of Canada the Japanese often boom in on 27.555 USB in the evening. They are quite easy to work from here as it's an almost all water path. 302 division (Eastern Russia) comes in really well a few times a year as well.
Also frequently heard from Asia are Indonesia & Phillipines, with Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand a little less often, but not exactly rare DX. I've worked all of them at one time or another, all with under 200 watts and simple antennas.

I also get the "Japanese Superbowl" on Channel 4 AM mode in the late afternoon/early evening. Imagine channel 6 but all in Japanese.....that's exactly what it sounds like!

If I find time I will check out a SDR station sometime from your area. Sounds like some real interesting activity up there.
Check out this one... http://23.235.74.104:8073/
It is on the island of Haida Gwaii about 300 miles north of me, and has a very good receiver. Conditions are very similar to what I get here.
I use it often to determine if there is backscatter going on as it is inside my skip zone. If I can hear myself on there I know there is backscatter happening.....which is almost every afternoon and evening. Enjoy!

Well today was a okay day for Dxing,I made contact with Texas and Nova Scotia on 37 LSB, however I wasn't able to make any contacts on 35 USB WWDX Net with any fellow operators, has anyone else been able to make any contacts today with any members on 35 USB,or are you running into a bit of Qrm like I did ?? Maybe the conditions just weren't right, Well hope everyone has a good night watching the Superbowl, should be a good game , hopefully a close one and not a blowout!!

I haven't tried for the last couple of weekends...... Not a lot of radio time the last couple weeks, and what time I have had has been on the freeband frequencies.
Seems a shame to waste the peak of the sun cycle on continental skip when signals are booming in from exotic places on the other side of the world!

I think the 35USB effort if a good idea, but I for one am unable to commit to doing it every Sunday.

Just made my first FM Contact with World Radio 076 from Dallas, Texas on 26.805, thought I would give it a try, pretty interesting.........

Wired up my 2nd Q6 Pro to a power plug today and figured out they must have a safety feature that the radio won't turn on unless a coax is hooked up to the radio. But anyway decided to try what someone said about band C channel 23 FM and there it was 26.805. Simple enough, guess I'll monitor that tomorrow when my neighbor goes to work. Spent half the day working on snow removal ( Again )
