This site is much more civilized than QRZ site. I cannot post anything without half a dozen hecklers on QRZ. Plus, when I defend my post I get banned for a month that never happens here. Been banned plenty of times. QRZ defends hecklers and the moderators are nuts, I do not visit QRZ now.

eHam is another site that went to trash but it stated about 5 years ago QRZ is now equal to eHam- junk site.

I quit visiting QRZ when they started the censorship. Life is too short for that environment.

They don't suffer fools on either site. Questions about I-junk 2000s or unlocking a 7300 get shredded quickly. They're pretty serious about the hobby.

Expanding frequencies is a legitimate topic.
That's right! There's this thing called MARS. I also knew a ham (now a silent key) who had once worked in communications with the US Forest Service. He had permission to use USFS HF frequencies and had his radios unlocked to operate on them.

So there are reasons to unlock a radio beyond using it on 11 meters! People on QRZ can't see past their huge egos sometimes. I haven't gone there in years.

For most people, but not all, the so-called MARS mod is all about using your 7300, or whatever rig, on 11m, and we all know it is. The folks on QRZ and eHam just don't have time for that and don't want to talk about it or help anyone butcher up a good rig. So you label them curmudgeons and grumpy or snooty or whatever. Don't expect them to welcome what they consider to be wrong, whether you agree with them or not.

I don't expect a damn thing out of them. Out of band mods are legitimate. Different Countries have different band plans. Preconceived notions about an individuals motivations for wanting that info, isn't welcomed either. It's their group. They can do as they wish. Act as they wish. Who cares? The fact is, it's a legitimate topic. I imagine a good percentage of the curmudgeons have out of band rigs, themselves. Again! Who cares?

To add to that, You probably seen some Ham's shack pics with Henry 8k and 3k amps. How many of them have NEVER turned it up passed 1499 watts?

Of course if you push the limits on this site you can get banned as well but this site is far more forgiving.

I use QRZ for the logbook and lookups which I do like and I will read any article of interest but rarely do I comment there.

Life is too short. As long as you are legal, decent, honest and truthful, why not just enjoy the hobby of radio in all its myriad forms?
And with this, another RZ tread dies.
Thanks for kind words for WWRF, but threads about how bad other forums are well, just , ..,never end well.
To quote the post above..
Ya
